Alice Estate is Villa Alice Satu and Villa Alice Dua taken together: two standalone two-bedroom villas side by side on a quiet lane in Seminyak’s Oberoi district. Four bedrooms, four en-suites, and — the part that makes it work — two separate pools, two gardens, two kitchens and two living pavilions.

That layout suits a particular kind of group. Two families, or two couples, get a whole villa each with their own front door and their own pool, and still walk next door for dinner. The estate is two separate houses, not one building divided. Each has its own gate, its own garden and its own pool, and they sit immediately next to each other on the same lane.

Alice Satu: an open-sided living and dining pavilion under a high pitched roof with exposed rafters, deep pale sofas, a timber dining table and a kitchen built around a dark stone island with bar stools. Outside, a free-form pool with a shallow end set into lawn, a white steel pergola shading a grey daybed, and sun loungers on the grass.

Alice Dua: a longer lawn running the length of the plot, a bean-shaped pool with a shallow end, a white curtained pavilion over a daybed at the water’s edge, and black sun loungers under palms. The living pavilion is open-sided with white drapes, a long dark dining table and a kitchen with a bar counter and open timber shelving.

All four bedrooms are king rooms with dark-wood four-poster frames, air conditioning and full-height glass onto the garden. Each has its own semi-open en-suite with a sunken black stone tub set in a planted courtyard, a separate rain shower and a stone vanity. Alice Dua’s two have bamboo-planted courtyards and fitted mosquito nets; Alice Satu’s two add a walk-in wardrobe with a safe, a sofa and a television.

Both villas have a back-up generator, private covered parking and a staff team covering housekeeping, gardening, pool service and night security.
