Villa Castil di Udara sits in a quiet part of Kerobokan, which is the practical answer to the Canggu-or-Seminyak question — both are a short drive, and you pay neither one’s premium.

The thing that actually sets it apart is on the roof. The villa runs on solar panels covering both electricity and hot water, which is rare enough in Bali villas to be worth saying plainly. If that matters to you, this is one of the few in the collection that can claim it.

Inside there are two separate living areas rather than one: an open-plan lounge, dining space and kitchen on the ground floor opening onto the garden, and a second lounge upstairs with large artworks and views over the trees. With eight people that second room is the difference between a good stay and a crowded one.

All four bedrooms are en-suite, and two of the four bathrooms have a stone soaking tub set on a bed of river pebbles; the other two are large walk-in rain showers, one of them opening onto its own planted courtyard. The garden is lawn and tall palms around a private pool, with sunbeds and a shaded outdoor sitting area.

The ground floor is open-plan — lounge, dining table and a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave and toaster — opening straight onto the terrace and garden. There is an enclosed, air-conditioned living room as well, which matters in wet season.

Upstairs is a second living area with its own character: oversized artworks, comfortable seating, air conditioning and views across the garden. It works as the grown-ups’ room or the kids’ film room, depending on the day.

Outside, the pool sits in a lawn edged with tall palms and dense planting. There are reclining sunbeds, a pool umbrella and a covered outdoor lounge for the middle of the day.

All four bedrooms have grand beds, garden views, air conditioning and their own en-suite finished in stone and slatted timber. Two of the four have a freestanding stone soaking tub; the other two have wide walk-in rain showers, one opening onto a private planted courtyard. There is a separate walk-in wardrobe with a safe.

A team of three looks after the villa daily, including a villa manager, with housekeeping every day, a gardener and pool service. Parking is private and covered.
