Villa Moana sits two hundred metres back from Echo Beach, on the quiet lane side of Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan. Close enough that you walk to the surf and the sunset warungs in three minutes; far enough that you sleep through the music.

It is built for families and for groups travelling with children, and it doesn’t pretend otherwise. Five king bedrooms take the adults, and a sixth — a proper kids’ room with bunk beds, its own kitchenette and a connecting door to the room next door — takes the children, so nobody is negotiating about who sleeps where. The pool has a fence and a box of pool toys. There is a high chair, a cot and a babysitter on request.

What lifts it above a straightforward family villa is the top floor: an open rooftop yoga shala that catches the breeze off the water, and a private spa room downstairs for massages without leaving the property. A team of five looks after the place daily — villa manager, housekeeping, gardener and pool.

The living and dining areas are enclosed and air-conditioned rather than open-sided — unusual in Canggu, and the right call in wet season or with small children. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an oven, coffee maker and toaster, and the staff will cook lunch and dinner on request.

The pool is 6.2 x 3 m and 1.5 m deep, set in a walled tropical garden with a fence and pool toys. Breakfast can be served floating on the water if the children insist, and they will.

On the roof, an open yoga shala takes the sea breeze — used for practice, for sundowners, or for the one quiet hour of the day. Downstairs there is a dedicated spa room for in-villa massages.

Five of the six bedrooms have king beds, each with its own en-suite except bedrooms 2 and 3, which share. Bedroom 3 is the children’s room: bunk beds, a kitchenette, and a connecting door through to bedroom 2 so parents are next door rather than down a corridor. All six have air conditioning, wardrobe space, mosquito nets and canopy beds.
